How To appear offline on Xbox One -  There are many benefits to playing online with your Xbox, especially if you have an Xbox Live subscription, but sometimes you just want to play in peace. If you want to temporarily dodge your friends so you can log into your favorite single player RPG, you can set your Xbox to appear offline. It's as easy as changing a single setting in the privacy menu.
 

You also have the option to appear online only to your friends. With this option selected, you will appear offline to anyone who is not on your friends list.

This is a good option if you want to play online with your friends without responding to spam requests or if you have a problem with bullying.

How to appear offline on Xbox One

• Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the Guide button on your controller.
• With the Guide open, navigate to System (gear icon)> Settings
• With the Settings menu open, navigate to Account> Privacy and Online Safety
• Select Xbox Live privacy.
• Select app privacy instead of Xbox Live privacy if you want to control which information apps on your Xbox One can share. For example, you can prevent applications from knowing your location.
• Select View details and customize.
• Select Online Status and History.
• Look for Other section you can see if you are online.
• Select Block.
  

How to appear offline on Xbox 360
It can also be configured to appear offline on Xbox 360, although the process is a bit different. This is especially useful if you have set up your old Xbox 360 for your child and you don't want anyone to see that it is online.

• Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the Guide button on your controller.
• Go to Settings> Preferences.
• With the Preferences menu open, select Online Status.
• With the Online Status menu open, select Appear Offline.
• You have finished
• There is no way for others to see offline except your friends on Xbox 360. If you set it to appear offline, none of your friends will see that you are online.

To reverse this process, simply select Online instead of Appear Offline from the Online Status menu.
