The main feature of Fortnite Season 8 is The Sideways, a mysterious world where players continue to be drawn to areas and anomalies. Here they will fight cubic monsters and discover powerful weapons like side gun and machine gun.

Now, after Update 18.21 and the start of Fortnitemares 2021, another exciting Sideways weapon has arrived: the Sideways Scythe. This is the first new melee weapon in months, so many players will be looking to get one.

Here's how you can get the new side scythe to break through the cube monsters, as well as the new guardians that the cube queen brought to conquer the island.

How To Get the side scythe in Fortnite

To get your hands on the side scythe in Fortnite, you will need to visit the side area. These are the giant orange domes that appear at a random POI at the start of each game and you can follow them on the map.

Once you're inside the side area, open up a bunch of purple side chests as much as you can until you find a side scythe. It is best to land in the lateral area as soon as possible so that your opponents do not open all the chests before you.  Side Scythians from Epic Games can be found inside these purple chests.

You can find a side scythe within the side anomalies, which appear as purple portals on the map, but these areas are more intense as you will be fighting multiple waves of cube monsters in a much smaller area.

How To use the side scythe in Fortnite

The new Sideways Scythe weapon works much like the lightsaber from past Fortnite seasons. You can perform a five basic melee combo by repeatedly pressing the "fire" button on the controller of your choice.

That's not all, as Sideways Scythe can also perform a devastating jump attack. To do this, jump into the air and press the "fire" button to hit the ground with your scythe and damage nearby enemies.

Finally, you can use the "aim" button on the controller to start running at high speed for a few seconds. Use it to launch a spinning attack by pressing the 'fire' button or just get out of harm's way.

The Sideways Scythe is available in five different rarities and you can increase its rarity level by using Cube Monster Parts, which are obtained by defeating Cube Monsters in The Sideways.
